I hope you are all having a good week.
Please find at the bottom of this e-mail the patrols I have completed from 20/10/25 to 23/10/25.
Firstly, apologies if I missed anyone at the Police Street Surgery held at Bower Fold Dr on 21/10/25, this surgery will be repeated TONIGHT 18:45 – 1900.
School parking This week, double yellow lines have gone in around the junction of Margaret Ave and Boma Rd (Jubilee Rd side).
I know yellow lines can be unpopular, and the ‘school run’ can be a very stressful time, however the safety of children and their families is, and will always be, the top priority. These yellow lines will help to play a crucial role in helping to keep everyone safe. When I have been completing patrols around the schools, I often see vehicles parked on or too close to junctions, near or over crossing points and parked where the vehicle causes an obstruction to other road users. Residents and other parents/guardians frequently tell me the same. I want roads around our schools to be the safest they can possibly can be. From research, I found that 1,190 children are injured each month within 500 meters of their school. On 23/10/25 I attended Jubilee Road at the end of the school day and it was very promising to see less congestion and the junctions and crossing points nice and clear for children to cross. I will continue to work with the schools, Council, residents, parents and guardians to do everything I can to ensure the safety of children and their families. Tent by Canal I have been made aware of a tent that is pitched up by the canal at the bottom of ‘Cow Lane’, Hanford. This week I have located the tent and spoken to a male living in it. I have received no reports of any problems in relation to the tent but if you have any concerns, please let me know and I will be in touch.
Golf clubs found A used set of Golf Clubs along with a tin containing a number of keys has been found near to the Brook. If you have any information on who these may belong to, please send me a message, thank you.
Parking Parking continues to be one of the most frequent issues that I am contacted about. Over the past few days I have been attending a number of streets across the area to address issues and to be proactive in preventing them. Vehicles can park on pavements; however they must allow room for pedestrians, mobility scooters and prams to pass. There are a number of locations where problems are occurring but please be assured, I will be visiting them as frequently as I can and doing my best to address them promptly. If you do see a vehicle that is parked dangerously, please report this to the Police to ensure the parking can be looked into promptly. Councillor Joint Police Surgery
One for the diary – I will be completing two street surgeries with Councillors Dan Jellyman and Maxine Clarke on 26th November 2025. We will be at Parkside at 18:00 – 18:20 We will be at Meadow Lane (Junction with Lindum Avenue) at 18:25 – 18:45 We look forward to speaking to residents and discussing the issues that you want to see addressed.
School visit
On 21/10/25 I was invited to St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School for their ‘world of work week’, where I was able to speak in the morning assembly about my job and answer plenty of questions. There was plenty of future career choices in the room, including doctors, Police officers, fire fighters, vets and astronauts to name but a few. Looking back, I think it was around 10/11 years old that I started to think about a career with the Police and I would of loved a ‘world of work’ week at my school. Thank you again to the school for the invite!
Updates from me I was recently contacted by a resident raising anti-social behaviour issues on Longton Rd, however I cannot find their contact information. If this was you, I do have an update for you, if you could please reply to this message and I will be in touch.
